Recovery of public spaces

2017-2018

“Tramar-Recovery of public spaces” is a participatory artistic project proposed by the artists Cristina Flores and Cecilia Rejtman to address the gender problems existing in society based on the weaving technique with the aim of recovering and transforming public spaces . The project is presented in the form of an active and nomadic fabric that invites participants to reflection and social criticism during the creation process. What “Tramar” seeks is to generate a creative and temporary space to rethink and confront the social stereotypes that continually limit the development of women, a space to conceive new ideas that contribute to society and generate the revaluation of textile practices.

This project faces a society that sees in the fabric a passive-intimate-feminine activity, for this reason the activity of the collective fabric in public spaces is proposed as a kind of ritual of sorority, empowerment, openness to dialogue with passers-by, and reflection on our identity and traditions.
