THE ABILITY TO EXPAND THE BODY

2019

It is the expulsion of my genetic inheritance from the disease, understood as a physical and emotional symptom.

Through the tissue I allow myself to extract my damaged organ to recognize it, explore it, expand it in space and heal it.

It could be considered a textile self-portrait, but it goes beyond that and becomes an intimate, dynamic and organic experience that has the possibility of continuing under construction and repair. The techniques I use I rescue from my womanly family memory, and I am also inspired by the fabric of the Chancay culture located on the north coast of Peru, where my family is from.

The exploration of my textile tradition allows me to create a rebellious fabric. Expelled from me, similar to a living organism floats in space for embrace and reconciliation.

Fabrics

Black: Expectoration, the ability to disturb silence.

Red: The ability to expand the body.

Exposition:

"iNACABADO / INACABAR", Euroidiomas Foundation Center, Lima.
